Rob is a classically trained chef and pastry chef who cemented his passion for cooking within the restaurants of the Michelin Star scene in mid nineties London.
With a career that started in 1991, Rob has travelled the world working in a variety of establishments where many styles and cultures have influenced him, but with flavour always being at the forefront of his mind.
In 2008, as the Head Baker, he helped set up and run ‘Mrs. Marengo’s Bakery’, in the heart of London’s Soho. At this bakery he prided himself on making sure that all the produce was hand made, in house. From the breads, croissants and jams to the pastries, desserts and cakes, handmade, great tasting produce, was at the heart of everything.
Then more and more people were asking him to make celebration cakes, and a new love was born. A passion to produce one off works of art that tasted amazing. So, he embarked on a journey to achieve his Masters in Cake Decorating.
After four years of dedicating himself solely to cake decorating, learning and honing a wide variety of skills, and perfecting his craft, he set up ‘Orange Rabbit Cakes’ in the summer of 2015.
‘Orange Rabbit Cakes’ is a professional artisan bakery based in Maidstone, Kent and specialises in creating bespoke designs for wedding cakes, birthday cakes, christening cakes, anniversary cakes and cakes for any other special occasion.
Rob still stands by the philosophy that it must taste amazing first and then it’s time to decorate and let your imagination do the talking. He believes it is his job to create an edible work of art that is bespoke to the clients’ style and taste.
Rob’s cakes display elegant, beautifully balanced designs ranging from contemporary to classical, clean lines with perfectly executed decorations.
